Abstract: This study investigates the use of compulsory English as a Foreign Language (EFL) textbook by Libyan teachers and its impact on the teaching and learning processes. The research employs a mixedmethods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issue. The study’s findings highlight the challenges faced by Libyan EFL teachers, their perceptions of the textbook, and their strategies for adapting the material to meet their students’ needs. The study concludes with implications for teacher education, curriculum design, and policy recommendations to improve the EFL teaching and learning experience in Libya.
