Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has created significant public health challenges, and one of the major concerns is its potential association with pre-existing medical conditions. Our comprehensive review aims to provide the latest information on the relationship between COVID-19 and autoimmune diseases, shedding light on current knowledge, emerging concepts, and underlying mechanisms that may exacerbate viral infections and even trigger autoimmunity. We delve into the complex interplay between the immune system and the virus, exploring how COVID-19 impacts individuals with autoimmune diseases and the potential implications for disease severity, clinical outcomes, and management strategies.
