Abstract:
The subjects were 157 infants who were admitted to a single-center NICU in a one-year period and in whom the acute phase reactant score and white blood cell count was determined by blood sampling on at least 3 consecutive days from early after birth. Inflammatory disease groups that may increase APRs were classified into the fetal inflammatory response syndrome (FIRS) group, the fetal/ neonatal asphyxia group, and the noninflammatory group. Differences in daily changes and significant differences in peak values were examined for each substance in the presence or absence of antibiotic therapy.
