Abstract: A range of agents are prescribed for the treatment of hepatic dysfunction or as a tonic, which serve to safeguard the liver, stimulate appetite and growth, and regulate gastrointestinal functions. However, there is inadequate empirical support regarding their safety and efficacy. More research needs to be conducted to ascertain how effective these agents are in remedying liver ailments.
