Abstract: Sleep is essential for maintaining good health as poor sleep quality can increase the risk of physical and mental diseases. The prevalence of poor sleep quality reaches 94% in adults. Many individuals who complain of sleep-related difficulties present hyperarousal, a state of cognitive and physiological activation. Sedatives and hypnotics can provoke misuse or tolerance, while recent studies report the benefit of nutraceuticals in treating this situational condition without these consequences.
