Abstract: Prolonged use of hyperosmolar solution in elevated ICP (Intracranial Pressure) increases the sodium concentration which associated with mortality and ICU (Intensive Care Unit) length of stay. Hypertonic sodium lactate as a new sodium-based solution does not yet have an evidence base that states that long-term use is safe in increasing ICP.
