Abstract: Asthma is a chronic disease that affects the airways of your lungs. The breathing tubes of your lungs carry air in and out of your lungs through your airways. Asthma is caused by two primary problems: swelling and mucus (inflammation) in the airways, and squeezing of muscles around the airways (bronchospasm). Breathing can be difficult due to these problems.
