Abstract:
Schistosomiasis is a parasitic disease caused by Schistosoma mansoni, popularly known as “schistosis†, “snail disease†or “water belly†, its transmission occurs through fresh water, rivers and lakes, by snails of the speciesBi- omphalaria spp. It is a neglected tropical disease that affects several countries, including Brazil. According to the WHO, schistosomiasis is the second most widespread disease, after malaria, and is the most prevalent disease linked to water.
