Abstract: This study estimates the impact of front of package warning labels on quarterly expenditure of urban households in Jalisco Mexico on energy dense foods between 2016 and 2022. Using a quasi experimental differences in differences design with ENIGH data urban households were compared with rural controls. Results show expenditure reductions in most products with null or adverse effects for sugary beverages indicating visual nudge effectiveness with limitations.
