EU gas market − risks and challenges for Russia

Abstract:
The article discusses current aspects of reforming the EU gas market, increasing the uncertainty and risks in the supply of Russian gas to Europe, Gazprom’s position in the EU market. It studies the possible role of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the energy supply of the EU and evaluates the competitive positions in Europe of the pipeline gas from Russia and LNG from the USA. The issues of transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to Europe are analyzed.
