Abstract:
This paper aims to analyze the evolution of financial stability in Turkish Banking Sector following the 2001 crisis and the impact of competition. A financial stability index is calculated for the peri¬od between 2003&2013 and competition is measured using Pan¬zar-Rosse (1987) model. The market concentration and the share of foreign banks are also analyzed as determinants of financial stability. According to the results, change in financial stability has a deteriorating effect on the competition. Moreover, share of fore¬ign banks increase financial stability and concentration ratios are found to have a statistically significant effect on the competition.
