The Effects of Empowerment on Work Satisfaction, Performance and Organizational Commitment of Employees: The Case of Turkish Insurance Sector

Abstract: Empowerment is a modern management approach and according to the findings of the current national and international studies, it increases the job satisfaction of the employees and therefore their to performance and commitment to institution, thus they increase the overall performance of the institutions. In this study, the effects of empowerment on job satisfaction, performance and organizational commitment of the insurance companies, which are considered to be strong in the personnel empowerment environment, were investigated. The statistical tests applied as a result of a survey involving four insurance companies revealed that empowerment positively affected the job satisfaction, performance and organizational commitment of employees.
