Russian Journal of Industrial Economics, 2019, vol. 12, issue 2

Abstract: The article explores one of the prospective directions in gas industry - production and consumption of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The purpose of the study is to identify the strategic opportunities for the development of small-scale production of LNG (SSPLNG) in Russia as a strategic direction and define the strategic priorities corresponding to this vector of development. The article contains the results of OTSW analysis, which identified the opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses of development of SSPLNG in Russia. Among the strategic opportunities the author identifies the opportunity of using liquefied natural gas to gasify of regions of Russia, the opportunity of using liquefied natural gas as marine fuel, and the opportunity of using liquefied natural gas as motor fuel. Also, the author formulates three strategic priorities for the development of small-scale production of liquefied natural gas in Russia.
