Abstract: The article examines the theoretical aspects related to the efficiency of socio-economic development of the economy in the context of global challenges of interaction between society and technology; presented and tested a methodology for assessing the socio-economic development of the territories of the Russian Federation in the context of the development of the digital economy; the directions of socio-economic development of the territories of the Russian Federation in the context of scientific and technological changes and the development of the digital economy have been determined.
