S. V. Panasenko ()

International Trade and Trade Policy, 2026, vol. 12, issue 3

Abstract: The article reveals that the key areas of cooperation between the Russian Federation and Vietnam are the supply of energy resources, industrial equipment, and agricultural products. The trade turnover between the countries continues to grow, and logistics chains are adapting to the new economic conditions. Promising avenues for the development of international trade between the Russian Federation and Vietnam have been identified, including expanding settlements in national currencies, increasing the supply of fertilizers and agricultural products, launching joint projects in the energy sector, and leveraging the benefits of the free trade zone with the EAEU. In the process of developing international trade between the Russian Federation and Vietnam, various risks and barriers should be taken into account, including difficulties in conducting mutual settlements due to sanctions, a shortage of direct sea and air transport, the cautious stance of Vietnamese businesses, which fear secondary sanctions from Western countries, the risks of route congestion, a shortage of available capacity, delivery delays, conversion restrictions, an imbalance in mutual trade, risks associated with the existing structure of trade and its focus on raw materials, and the risks of insufficient diversification of trade. The aim of the study is to identify the main ways to develop international trade between Russia and Vietnam. The object of the study is international trade. The subject of the study is international trade between Russia and Vietnam. Research methods: content analysis of foreign and domestic works on this topic, analysis of statistical data, block grouping, method of systematizing expert opinions of practicing professionals working in the field of international trade, tabular and graphical methods for presenting the analysis of data and the results of the study.
