V. E. Goldenkov () and E. A. Nikolaeva ()

International Trade and Trade Policy, 2026, vol. 12, issue 3

Abstract: The article shows the main trends in the development of renewable energy and electric transport in the USA, from 1992 to the present, and the impact of this process on the dynamics of investment, employment, and the regulatory environment in 2021–2026, including the transition from the Inflation Reduction Act model to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act model. The purpose of the article is to assess the impact of the development of renewable energy and electric transport on the socio-economic development of the USA in the period 2020–2026, taking into account the policy changes of 2025. The study revealed that the United States has gone through opposite regulatory regimes over the past three years, from maximum incentives to accelerated tax support cuts. The development of the renewable energy and electric vehicle sectors in the United States has a direct impact on global commodity markets. The United States is both the largest exporter of liquefied natural gas and a growing player in the critical minerals market. The long-term global prices for hydrocarbons, the structure of demand for key raw materials, and the overall configuration of international energy trade depend on the sustainability of the U.S. economy's decarbonization process, making it crucial to study this process from a theoretical and practical perspective.Â
