Abstract:
One of the most important and relevant trends in the development of the modern global economy is the energy transition, which affects economic interests and has a direct impact on the dynamics of both global and country-specific economic systems. The article examines the main drivers of the global energy transition that influence the activities of domestic and foreign energy corporations. The study identified the contribution of each driver to the energy transition. It has been noted that digitalization is of the greatest importance due to its comprehensive, sustainable, and multifaceted impact on this process at the global and national levels, as well as from the perspective of the efficiency of energy companies. The scientific novelty of the article lies in identifying, based on a comparative analysis of the drivers of the energy transition, those that have the greatest impact on the activities of energy corporations and possess an absolute advantage, which manifests itself in the activation of additional resources, the speed of adaptation, and the restructuring of consumer habits. The aim of the study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of digitalization for the development of oil and gas corporations in the context of the energy transition. The objectives of the study are to compare the contribution of various drivers to the energy transition; to demonstrate the impact of digitalization on the global economy; and to assess the competitive advantage of digitalization over other drivers. The work uses general scientific methods of comparative analysis, comparison and generalization.Â
