Modern conceptions of knowledge production

Abstract:
The paper considers the elements of contemporary concept of knowledge production: traditional, discipline-based knowledge production, «Second type» knowledge production, «triple helix». There is suggested a new concept -«pentahelix» as a perspective form of knowledge production which is based on the interaction of the system «science - education - industry - authority - institutions of civil society». The article reveals the distinctive features of «pentahelix» which is extending the scientific notions of the processes currently occurring in the today's rapidly evolving society.
