Abstract: This research proposes the use of Information Technology (IT) as a way to generate efficient strategic management in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to achieve economic advantages. It focuses essentially on the ways in which storage is carried out, recovery, transmission and manipulation of information, since the way in which it is handled is of vital importance in the understanding of individual and organizational behavior. The main research question is: Why do people dedicate themselves to competitive strategies for SMEs? As part of the research methodology for the development of this work, the literature was thoroughly reviewed, and cases of success associated with the topic were reported and published. The work answered the questions raised and it was possible to conclude that in fact it is possible to achieve the quality strategies associated with business processes in terms of IT services, which as a final result in competitive advantages.
