Abstract: Urbanization and development are closely linked together and it is difficult to say whether urbanization follows regional development or regional development follows urbanization. Present paper attempts to highlight the role of urbanisation in regional development process. The area of study- Eastern Uttar Pradesh is a typical case of developing economy. The pace of development in the region is quite slow, and less urbanised districts are at the lowest rung of development, on the other hand comparatively more urbanised districts are in better state.
