Abstract: The different setup of the clinical trial goals may lead to different statistical analysis methodologies and different trial conclusions. Some statistical methodologies used in the conventional clinical trial design are against the common acceptable probability axiomatic system. In the sense, the term superiority and non-inferiority are not only misleading, they are even not well established. To clarify these concepts and to find a feasible solution for clinical trial analysis, it is necessary to review the foundation of the statistical analysis and assumptions in common practice.
