Abstract: Background: Aldosterone (A) has pro-oxidative, pro-growth and pro-inflammatory effects in different tissues. We have previously demonstrated that in vascular inflammation different cytokines as NF-kB and VCAM-1 were present and generated a proinflammatory microenvironment that supports this cardiovascular remodeling. We proposed to evaluate the effects of spironolactone (S) antagonist mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) about vascular remodeling in metabolic syndrome model.
