Abstract: In light of the high occurrence of mental and behavioral disorders as well as sub-syndromal symptomatology causing burden in the population of children and adolescents, early detection and appropriate management is the need of the hour. But, there are hurdles to overcome, including ‘gate keeping’ of different stakeholders. Thus, in order to speak a ‘common language’, a newer classification is discussed along with the feasibility of such a system in a developing region like the North-East India.
