Abstract: Aim: To confirm a correlation between certain forms of bruxism and asymmetry of the jaw-lifting muscles. Methods This was a prospective study, carried out in a single center on a total of 107 patients with severe bruxism, treated with intramuscular botulinum toxin type-A (BoNTA) injections into the masseter muscles. 25 patients demonstrated a clinical and/or electromyographic facial asymmetry of the muscles following botulinum toxin type-A treatment.
