Abstract: Shoulder pain is a common cause of morbidity in the society with surveys showing that 9-26% of the adult population being affected at a point in time [1]. It is the third most common cause of musculoskeletal pain in the community after back and knee pain. Shoulder pain usually indicates an underlying shoulder, neck or nerve pathology. Shoulder conditions causing pain can be broadly divided into rotator cuff disease, biceps tendon disease, acromioclavicular joint disease and glenohumeral pathology of adhesive capsulitis or arthritis [2]. In the subtype of rotator cuff disease, rotator cuff tendinopathy, subacromial bursitis, partial-thickness rotator cuff tears (PTRCT) and full thickness tears are the common causes of pain and disability. The major cause of these conditions has been attributed to degenerative changes that come along with ageing.
