Investissemnt stratégique, incertitude et effet d'irréversibilité

Murat Yildizoglu

Annals of Economics and Statistics, 1994, issue 35, 87-106

Abstract: In a simple model of two stage competition we show that the strategic effect of an irreversible commitment in ex ante capacity can be an insufficient motivation to blockade the entry for the incumbent if the ex post demand on the market is uncertain. In this context we show that this strategic effect must be strong enough to counterbalance the option value of the irreversible commitment.
