Abstract: C'est avec beaucoup d'émotion que je réponds aujourd'hui à l'invitation des Annales de rendre hommage à un ami très proche, avec lequel j'ai eu le privilège de travailler pendant presque 30 ans. La science économique a perdu un scientifique exceptionnellement éclairé et fécond, qui a su guider de façon durable plusieurs générations d'étudiants et de chercheurs. La recherche universitaire française est désormais privée d'un organisateur enthousiaste et désintéressé, dépensant une énergie inépuisable pour faire progresser sa discipline as la mettre au service de la collectivité. Malheureusement, sa volonté inflexible n'a pas suffi à vaincre une grave maladie, que son courage lui a fait pourtant mépriser jusqu'au bout. Il est mort ce 31 janvier à 56 ans, soutenu par son épouse Geneviève et son fils David.
