Abstract:
Using the French database "Jeunes et Carriéres 1997" I evaluate the efficiency of public training schemes and focus on male/female differences in employment histories of young people. I estimate a dynamic multinomial logit model with correlated random effects by simulated likelihood maximum. I can determine whether the insertion difficulties of some young people stem from their individual characteristics or from their professional past, like the repetition of unemployment periods.
