Major European transport corridors and their role in the Republic of Moldova development

Abstract: In this work, was presented the transport system from a geographical and economical point of view, as a result, the accent was placed on the spatial structure of the transport networks and on the connection between transport system and international economic relations. The objective of the Transport Corridors Project for Moldova is to improve road transport connectivity and safety on selected road sections along expressway one and the north-south transport corridor in the country. Also, were set the development priorities of these corridors and its formation to European parameters. The study was concluded with the presentation of some recommendations: supports strategic infrastructure investments to develop an improvement program for transport corridors, liberalization of national railway networks, as well as restoring effective activity of fluvial transport.
