SELF-REGULATION OF THE E-COMMERCE IN ROMANIA–POSSIBLE SOLUTION FOR THE LIMITATION OF E-FRAUDS

Abstract: This article presents the importance and the aim of auto-regulation of e-commerce in Romania, as a tool that could be used to prevent and diminish the frauds within the virtual world. Electronic commerce, as a form of manifestation of informational revolution, induces specific problems that can not be solved using exclusively the legal norms and standards; these situations require new instruments that compensate the slow reaction of the public authorities in adopting technological innovations and adapting the dynamic changes induced by the transition to a new economy: information and knowledge economy. Frauds committed in the virtual world are among the negative effects of this transition towards digital era. E-fraud is a phenomenon that also affects the electronic commerce in Romania, although it is an early stage development sector with an important potential growth. Under these circumstances, it is required new solutions that prevent the extension of this phenomenon. Considering this aim, the article highlights the auto-regulation techniques that are suitable primarily for the real need of the electronic commerce in Romania: obtaining the trust of users, the main goal of the auto-regulation being the creation of a specific behavior that raises the level of the trust for the marketed products and services.This paper supports the implementation of auto-regulation in this sector, the article presents the main problems witnessed by the Romanian electronic commerce and the solutions provided by these techniques; the success of this technique that has been already proved at the international levels is also presented throughout the paper.
