ETHIC AND DEONTOLOGY IN HEALTHCARE SERVICES

Abstract: Although the appearance of medical ethics as a science is a recently preoccupation, the ancient writings show that ethics precepts have been always modulated the medical practices. At the origin of medical ethics, in archaic societies and also in the most evolved ones from antiquity we are always found three elements: the ethics exigencies which the practician had to respect, the moral significations of the healthcare and the decisions which the state had to make for its citizens regarding the public health (E. Sgreccia and V. Tambone, 2003). The major progresses of the contemporary medicine have set up in the same time the new ethics problems, many of them being difficult to resolve in daily medical practice and other ones having contradictory aspects. The acceleration of the scientific progress in the last years and the development of the actual society had determined the physicians to seek answers for many cha- llenges, some of them being placed outside the moral, social and juridical rules (experimentation on human body, the artificial insemination, the fertilization in vitro, the genetic manipulation, the euthanasia etc.). The answer at these challenges was the appearance of bioethics, which has a largest action field, including the study of social and moral aspects of medicine and of bioethics research, as well as their impact over the society, human life and the future of human condition.
