Abstract: The European Social Model became a controversial subject during the past years, with many ‘pros’ and ‘cons’ regarding its adequacy to the new economic and social reality. The central point in discussion is whether or not this model is suitable for all the country members of the European Union, considering the increased cultural diversity and economic specificity. This paper aims to critically review the specialists’ opinion on the matter and answering to the no longer unspoken question if the model should be applied as it is, adjusted or simply abandoned.
