Abstract:
The many key issues which hamper development in poor countries include lack of transparency at the economic and political levels, lack of investments in R&D, poor political and economic accountability, outdated educational systems, nepotism, poor governance and breakdown in law and order. Poorly implemented African political ideologies are at the heart of the continent’s underdevelopment. Well-functioning governance attributes, at both the economic and political levels are central in the promotion of development in any country. To understand how each of the above contribute to underdevelopment, this piece will briefly outline the role that each attribute plays.
