Abstract: This paper research the possible effects of quantities of soybeans, rice, beans and cotton on poverty levels and inequality of income distribution in 22 regions of the State of Mato Grosso. To do so, with statistics of 2000 and 2010 and the adoption of panel data for fixed models, two regressions were estimated, whose independent variables are the quantities of such goods and as dependent variables in each of these regressions, the Sen index (poverty metric absolute) and the Gini (metric of inequality of income distribution). As most relevant results, with statistical significance of 10%, it was found that, in particular micro-region (Alto Araguaia), the amount of cotton produced exercised inverse influence on poverty and soybean caused direct or positive effect on inequality.
