Abstract:
The paper’s goal is intended to analyze the performance of agriculture in the region comprehend by Registro’s Rural Development Office (RDO) between 1995/1996 and 2007/2008, by calculating indexes of Total Factors Productivity (TFP), to do so, there will be a data collection for the construction of indicators using the Törnqvist index. Registro’s known for its low degree of economic development, including the agricultural sector, which differs from other regions of the state of São Paulo, nonetheless, the region of Registro stands out for its banana production, one of the most consumed fruits in the world. At the end of this paper, we were able to conclude that there was a grown in the Total Factors Productivity (TFP) of 7,59%, but without alteration of the production structure, which is strongly home oriented.
