Abstract: Forest production is a relevant economic sector for regional development. And for the people who live in the Amazon, this activity still represents one of the main means of survival. This paper analyzes the impact on forest production in the state of Amazonas given an increase in timber product exports. To this end, the present study elaborated a scenario of international exports of wood products from the Amazonas State TRU 2006. The results showed that a shock in the final demand increases the production of extractive logs by 7.57%. and 5.51% in terms of GVP and GVA, respectively. In addition, they indicated a positive and significant impact on Amazonian extractive log production as a result of any political or any planned change in the wood processing market, which could put pressure on forest areas in the region.
