Abstract:
Rio de Janeiro has the highest intergenerational social mobility in Brazil but itis the only one that shows a decreasing trend in the improvement of the socialstatus. This can be explained, partially, by the impacts of the decreasingdynamics of the economy in the State during the last decades on the employmentsectoral composition and on the increasing migration of qualified workers toother States of Brazil.
