Abstract:
This study aims to estimate the percentage of exports subject to non‑tariff measures and frequency of application. We also intend to analyze the effects of regulatory measures regarding to SPS and TBT agreements applied for the major exporting countries: European Union, The United States of America, Canada and Brazil. The analysis procedure is based in the Index Covering (IC) and Frequency Index (FI). By way of Index Covering, we verified that pig meat exports were affected by the technical restrictions, sanitary or phytosanitary, because the values were greater than zero for all countries. Regarding to the Frequency Index, 100% of pig meat imports by European Union, The United States of America, Canada and Brazil had some notification SPS or TBT.
