Abstract:
The triggering of the financial crisis on a global level, at the middle of 2007, has had a major impact on the economy of the European Union. Inflation is a macro economical imbalance that is tightly related to macro economical dynamics' indicators. This article will analyze the evolution of the inflation rate, before and after the ascent of the financial crisis in September 2008, in countries part of the Euro zone and the states members of the European Union that are outside of that zone, particularly Romania, the causes that have determined this evolution, the consequences of deflation on the economy, as well as the impact of the Central European Bank's monetary policy on the economy.
