Abstract:
Floods in recent years, earthquakes, aging housing stock and the level of housing optional insurance coverage are factors that have led the authorities to initiate mandatory housing insurance system, out of fear of more devastating natural events. The study examines the current state of the system of mandatory home insurance in Romania, operating principles, sustainability, evolution compared with other European Union states, the insurer’s perspective and influences involved in the system.
