Abstract: Risk management in social assistance projects is a crucial component for ensuring the success and sustainability of social interventions. Given the complexity and variability of social issues, these projects face a number of unique risks that require specialized approaches. This article explores in depth the specificity of risks associated with social work projects, highlighting the main risk categories, including financial, legal, organizational and environmental. Various risk management strategies are presented and analyzed, emphasizing the importance of their constant identification, evaluation and monitoring. By applying effective risk management practices, social work projects can become more resilient and able to achieve their goals in the context of ever-changing social and economic environments. Effective communication and continuous monitoring are essential for proactive risk management, ensuring transparency and active involvement of all stakeholders. This article adopts a qualitative research methodology, focusing on the analysis and synthesis of existing specialized literature in the field of risk management and social assistance. The method employed involved a systematic review of relevant bibliographic sources, including international standards (ISO 31000:2018, COSO ERM Framework: 2017), academic works, case studies, and government reports, as well as a comparative analysis of different international practices and standards, to ensure a comprehensive and rigorous approach. This article contributes to the literature by providing a theoretical and practical framework for social work professionals, helping them navigate the complexity of risks and develop innovative and sustainable solutions.
