Increasing ag loan profitability
Ray Smith
American Bankers Association, 1991, vol. 04, issue 4
Abstract:
In order to increase agricultural loan profitability, banks should use a tiered risk rating system. This system offers simplified administration and garners positive customer response. In addition, banks should increase loan volume and direct deposit account balance while decreasing the number of loan transactions. Deficiencies in the risk rating system can be fixed by increasing interest rates according to loan risk and amount of current collateral.
