Why ag banks are among the strongest institutions in the U.S

Abstract:
Farm banks are now one of the strongest segments of the United States banking industry due to improved farm income and reduced debt. In 1990, farm banks improved asset quality and increased loan volume. Deposits have also increased, particularly interest bearing deposits. In order to maintain a competitive edge as nonbank banks and other financial institutions seek to increase market share, farm banks will have to emphasize price and personal service and exploit their inherent advantages as community-based financial institutions.
