Abstract: Excerpts are presented from recent remarks by the president and CEO of the First National Bank (Waverly, Iowa) on January 27, 1998, to the Federal Housing Finance Board in Washington, DC, on behalf of ABA's board of directors, of which he is a member. He also serves as chairperson of the Rural Economic Development Task Force.
