Abstract:
Risk in agriculture prices can be offset in various ways. The major stumbling block to getting producers on the same competitive level as the major players lies in the education process. The main reason that so many producers do not hedge, or plan a marketing strategy, is they simply do not know how to go about doing it. This is where the agricultural lender and their institution can help. By impressing upon them the importance of taking a proactive approach to marketing, the lender is helping them to thrive in what is becoming an increasingly competitive industry.
