CoBank's attempted PowerGrab should concern bankers (October 1999)
Bert Ely
American Bankers Association, 2000, vol. 13, issue 2
Abstract:
While CoBank is not well-known to many bankers, it is the largest and fastest growing gorilla within the Farm Credit System cage. CoBank's taxpayers-supported growth ambitions appear to be unquenchable. Its July 1, 1999, acquisition of the St. Paul Bank for Cooperatives, which had been wounded by troubled loans, makes it the sole FCS lender to agricultural cooperatives.
