Agricultural disaster assistance passed

Abstract: A $3.1-billion agricultural disaster assistance package has been passed by Congress and signed into law by the president. The bill contains agricultural disaster assistance in areas including: 1. crop disaster, 2. livestock, 3. sugar beet production. According to USDA official J. B. Penn, signup for the assistance will begin June 6, 2003, and payment will be made in a matter of days following signup.
