APPLICATION OF STOCHASTIC FRONTIER FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF TECHNICAL EFFICIENCY OF PADDY CROP GROWN UNDER LAND RECLAMATION TECHNOLOGY

Abstract: The study of technical efficiency as to how with the existing production technology farmers can achieve maximum crop output without any additional cost, is of vital importance to planners, administrators ,and research scientists. The construct of production frontier provides sufficient economic rationale for. measurement of technical efficiency. This paper attempts to measure technical efficiency and its related parameters on paddy farms under newly developed Land Reclamation Technology using the concept of stochastic frontier production function. The results reveal that sample farmers, on an average are successful in achieving 81.79 per cent technical efficiency
