Abstract:
The present situation in respect of Management Science was used as norm to systematise the most important staff management approaches, theories and instruments in agriculture. The most important implication is that within the multicultural context of staff management on farms in the RSA. the auditing technique of Armstrong and Lloyd should be used in conjunction with a comprehensive management model. The Likert type staff management auditing technique of Armstrong and Lloyd was described and evaluated. The conclusion was reached that the Likert type staff management audit can be used in the agricultural situations of developed as well as developing countries. Finally, the structure and procedure of the audit, as well as the framework for the analysis of the staff audit data, were adapted for testing on unschooled and semi-literate workers in farming situations in the R.S.A.
