Abstract:
These article first summaries the orthodox approach in market analysis and examines the contribution of the new institutional economics to the study of markets. In the third part it compares and contrasts the two approaches examining the strengths and weaknesses of both and concludes by emphasizing the fact that they have a role to play in economic analysis.
